Default left Headlight stuck down

(1998 model) I know the plastic gear is bad, and I have ordered the brass gear but I can not raise the headlight. I am going to remove the motor with the light down. Anyone done this? The manual lift just spins so I really have no choice!!!

Is there a arm on the other side of this motor that I need to set or what??? During re-installation, do I need to set anything to a certain postion? And also, since this gear stripped my headlights open in the park light position, is this normal and will it go away once the new gear is installed? I'll have the new gear Sat..
Input please...
Thanks

(Sat...)
Headlight gear install complete!!!!
I found the headlight can be opened with wire hooked on the end to lift the unit. After that the motor and the brass gear was simple to intall... It may have taken a half hour to complete the job, and the dealer wanted $95.00 labor!!!!!
The brass gear kit from Dick R. was very good....
And by the way, the teeth on my old gear were good, the rubber bumper inside was totally busted apart resulting in why I could not raise the headlight manually.
Anyway, I'm sure this is going to happen to someone else....And I'm getting a new gear for the other side before it breaks.....
