Default Installing LG Street Headers....bottom up anyone do this?

I got my LG streets in and unfortunately they only came with installation instructions on how to install LG Pro's on a C6 corvette. I have read all the instructions and the instructions from LS1howto.com. So there is no mention from LG to remove the alternator, coil packs or valve covers. They say to install both from the bottom of the car and slide them into the engine bay. If this is true, then I would agree and those pieces would not have to be removed. Has anyone done it this way? I have only heard about having to remove all the extras and doing one from the top and one from the bottom.

Input needed.

Thanks

What's up XtremeVette,
I purchased American Racing, and they both install from the bottom, so no direct need to remove alternator and coil packs. However, for exact reason I forget, I still ended up removing the coil pack bracket and alternator. No need to remove any valve cover.

It's not a big deal. The alternator is only held in place by two bolts. Take a 15mm wrench, pull the tensioner to get the belt off, then remove the two alternator bolts (13mm??). It will then rotate out of the braket and you can lay it on top of the engine, no need to disconnect the wires. Then, I removed the coilpack bracket, and slid that out of the way.

I think the only reason I did this was to get better access to the front header bolt. Even so, it took all of 10minutes extra to remove and reinstall.

My only advice, have a friend help with the passenger side. You have to remove the starter (once again, no big deal) to let the header slip into place. In my case, I didn't have help, and couldn't get the header past the starter wires, so disconnected them. It was not fun trying to reattach the wires once the header is in the way.

Here's the instructions I'm currently using...courtesy of Cajundude's site. (The old stuff is off, but my cats need some adjustment to fit properly.)

Drivers' side from the bottom and passenger from the top.

I removed the mentioned items because it made it a ton easier to get the stock parts off. The extra 10 minutes removing them allowed me to keep hand cutting down to a minimum.
By the way, I followed the LS1 how to and it's very good.
My next concern would be that you have the correct headers since it came with C6 instructions and NOT the instructions for your car. Either way, Good Luck you will love them when done.

Installed left from top. Right from bottom. They slid right in after making room.

I have taken my LG's on and off about 6 times. The easiest way in my opinion is to go from the top. It only takes a few minutes to remove any obstructions you might have.

When they installed mine on Thursday, I did notice alternator, valve covers, spark plugs..etc.. were removed, but I didn't see the actual placement of the different sides, but from what I hear, yep driver bottom, passenger top. And mine came with LG Pro C5 instructions. Did you get the upgraded clamps and gaskets also? Remember, rear 02 sensors to the front, plug the rear bungholes... and delete rear from computer when you tune.

That's how I did mine today. Had the rear O2's deleted in a tune a while back, so I got "bung plugs" (that sounds pretty nasty) from NAPA -- Part # 35299...

Yea I know, it does sound nasty, but that's what they called them. LG MotorSports supplied two heavy bolts and the holes are threaded, so a little "lock-tite" and that was it. Deleting is the thing to do, if you don't use rear sensors.

Hmmm... That's odd -- mine didn't come with them. I called LG to ask them if they had these (didn't realize they were readily available at NAPA) and a lady I spoke with first had no idea what I was talking about, put me on hold, and then said they didn't carry anything like that. She suggested going to Home Depot and buying a couple bolts... Well HD doesn't exactly carry 18mm x 1.5 (I think that's the size) bolts that are 1" long. I was at NAPA for something else, and asked the guy, and he knew exactly what I was talking about, and knew the right size... Guess I shoulda talked to Louis at LG instead, but I'm glad I didn't since they were locally available.

Yep I think they should have been there. When I got my shipment, I laid it out end to end for inventory and correct parts, took a few pics, but none are close enough to show the bolts. Either way, glad you found what you needed.
