Has anyone ever replaced their Horn relay in their body control module.
Awhile back i was bored and traced down why When I click my keyless remote the horn wouldnt honk.
The streering wheel and horns work fine.
What I found was is by probeing ground to the proper wire behind the BCM the horns honked as designed. I believe its the micro relay within the body control module
Im hopeing someone will have some information on how i can obtain this part from a electronic parts store and steps to take to replace it I know itll be solderedinto the board
You can replace the horn relay, get it from a Dealer. The service manual has a step "Replace the relay." The horn relay is located in the under hood electrical center, it is labeled 'HORN" and is #36.
Here is operation of horns:
Power to the Horn Relay is constantly supplied through the battery. Ground is supplied to the relay through the two switches located in the steering wheel assembly. Both of the switches are normally open. When any of the switches are closed, the relay energizes and activates both of the Horns by supplying the battery power. A constant ground is supplied to the Horns through splice pack #100.
The Body Control Module (BCM) will energize the Horn Relay with a pulsing ON/OFF signal when an illegal entry to the vehicle is detected by various inputs to the BCM.

The problem is within the BCM. the horn works properly. the Theft part doesnt work(via remote, or theft)
ive traced i down to the bcm, thats the purpose of the post is to get information to actually have that piece on the circuit board replaced.

I have the exact opposite problem. Mine works with the alarm and key fob, but not the steering wheel. I've never looked into though. It's one of those things I've been meaning to do, but never get around to.
I just recently got this code on my 98, the BCM was replaced by the dealer weeks before, but I had no horn, dealer sez the horn/airbag need to be replaced. I noticed the code after I tried to use the horn in the interstate, coincidence? can trying to use the horn, or engaging the system with horn and lights get me this code? any insight would be appreciated guy/gals !

Take a look at the circuit. It's probably the horn membrane.

You didn't say which code you're getting, but take a look at my previous post: only the membrane would need to be replaced.

If you have a high mileage car and the multi-function switch has never been replaced look at this thread:
