I need help with a code on a friends 2002
carbon buildup in the exhaust manifold as potential.
is your code followed by an h? if the system runs for 3 consecutive cycles without failures, the code will turn into a history code (following h). i would run it for a while and see what happens. if it doesn't turn into an h then you may have to take it in. i am not much of a wrench but that is what i would have to do. maybe someone else more helpful will chime in. it doesn't sound disastrous but i doubt if you will pass emissions if the problem persists.
good luck!
Take the elbow off right behind the left side AIR check valve. Push and snake a 1/4 inch hose down the AIR pipe about a foot and a half until it hits the other valve behind the intake. Then shoot some carb cleaner from a spray can through the 1/4 inch tube. I stuck the long tube fron the spray can down the 1/4 inch tube and wrapped some tape around it to prevent back spray. The carb cleaner is supposed to disolve some of the carbon buildup in the valve thus freeing it up. I figured I'd give this a try before pulling the intake. So far so good...the P1416 hasn't come back yet.
