Default Tire Pressure Sensors

There are no TPMS sensors in my wheels. Does anybody know where to get a set for cheap. Or is there a way to get it to quit showing the message on the instrument cluster every time I start my car?

Define cheap. Believe it or not, they sell them for $46.00 at Walmart.

Also define which year car you have, the cost of the TPMS varies depending on year.

You can get the TPMS turned off if you know someone that has a Tech2, the dealer tool for diagnosing GM vehicles. Most dealers will NOT turn off the TPMS for liability reasons, so you'll have to find a "friend" with a Tech2. Other than that ... nope, just hit RESET everytime the warning message comes up to clear it.

If you have run-flats, the TPMS are an important safety feature ... and even with non-runflats ... if a tire gets low at highway speeds ... and eventually blows out ... compare the cost of replacing the tire and wheel (you''ll likely damage the rim) to the TPMS .....

Buy the sensors ....

What year is your car? The TPMS sensors for 97-00 are different (and much more expensive) than the 01-04.

You can find them used on Ebay but if your car is 97-00, you might as well bite the bullet and buy some new ones since it's only a matter of time before the batteries die out on the used ones.

Fill out your profile with the year of car that you have.

1997-2000 Series I sensors cost about $80 each from Gene or Frictner's and system can not be turned off. They usually last about 7 years or 100,000 miles.

2001-2004 Series II sensors cost about $35 each and the system can be turned off with a Tech 2. They usually last about 10 years.

Not many people have a Tech 2 since it costs about $3,000 and needs constant updates to remain current.

Yeah, sorry, I realized I forgot to specify which year I was talking about. My car is a 2001. I didn't realize walmart sold these sensors, that's actually great news. I don't mind buying some new ones as long as the're gonna work, I'll have to check into it. Thanks everybody for your help.
By the way: Speaking of run-flats. I really like the idea of having them, but I was pricing some new Pilot Sports, and the're like $310 a piece! Does anyone know where to get them cheaper, or is this just the going rate if you wanna good tire?

Gene @ GM Parts house has them, and they are pretty reasonably priced (esp for 01-04)
