I was too busy watching were I was going, believe it must have been 75-80 Thanks

The redline for an LS6 engine is 6,500 RPM .... the rev limiter kicks in at 6,600 RPM .....

The limiter is regardless of gear .....

You can mechanically over rev and damage/destroy the engine, even with the rev limiter. One example is if you downshift to 1st gear at 90 MPH and engage the clutch ....

My bad what I,m trying to ask is what speed you are going in each gear when you hit the limiter
Never mind 5th & 6th I'll never be there .

OK ... I've seen your previous posts and couldn't believe you were THAT dumb ....

From this site .....

http://www.corvettemuseum.com/specs/...erformance.htm

1st - 48 MPH
2nd - 69 MPH
3rd - 100 MPH
4th - 143 MPH
5th - 171 MPH
6th - N/A

The reason 6th is listed as N/A is that 6th is such a "high" gear that the LS6 engine does not have enough torque/HP to get to 171 MPH in 6th .... I believe the max speed in 6th gear is somewhere about 150 MPH.

Thanks I knew you would come through. I don't drag so I tend to watch spedo and not tach so this will be helpful . I will burn these numbers in what brain I have left because I don't like hitting the limiter

If you are running a 6 speed it would be wise to learn to watch the tach at high rpm's. The LS1 engine winds so fast at high rpm's that in order to keep from bumping the rev limiter, I shift at 6300. And that is a power shift.

Believe me I know I have the LS6 but it seems to explode after about 3K and sometimes I get caught off guard .

Yup .... the LS6 will get to redline REALLY fast in lower gears .... and watching either the tach or speedo is a recipe for disaster ....

Shifting should be done based on the sound of the engine .... keep your eyes on what is ahead (speed doesn't kill ...... hitting s**t is what kills) and shift based on what you hear.

If you shift a few hundred RPM early ... not a big deal ..... unless you are racing Michael Schumacher ... in which case you will probably lose anyway

Default Fuel cut off at 6600 rpm.................

BlackZo6 is correct that the factory set rpm limit is 6600 rpm when the fuel cutoff happens on '01-'04 LS6 but if you could over ride it GM engineers say 6800-7000 rpm before 'things' begin to happen. GM engineers state that you could run at 7000 an not put a rod thru the side of the block but how many times could this be done? Well the honest answer came as they explained the endurance confidence testing was for 125,000 miles. So running at say 7000 rpm would require forged pistons and rods w/ floating pins.

This has brought to mind the 05 F150 I had .It would shake the doors if they were open at 1300 rpm in neutral .Ford was stonewalling me and I tried my best to blow it up I would run on the limiter in low for miles And every time a light would change I would just jam the gas down.I hated to do a vehicle that way but I hated more spending 30k for a lemon.Ford finally relented and I have a 06 and no issues
