reverse lock out solenoid
.this topic has been discussed quite a bit about shifting from 4th into 5th and going into reverse insted.where is the solenoid and the wiring.do you need to pull the tranny.my 03 z seemes to be doing this more and more.i am being told it is a lot of money to have it replaced.

I did mine about a year ago, it is located on the driver side of the trans. There is a special GM socket that fits over the solenoid. I used that and a stubby flex head 3/8 drive ratchet and it came right out, took all of 15 minutes.

My 02 Coupe has done that a time or two. Is solenoid replacement the first thing to try or are there some other checks to be made? I have no codes. Can it be done w/o the special GM tool? What does the solenoid cost?
