Default Tire and wheel question

Hello all,

I just bought my first Corvette a couple of days ago and the people where I work are starting to think I am up to something because Of the big on my face. It is a 2002 C5 vert triple black with just about every option. I am new to the Corvette world so I apologize in advance for my very limited knowledge.

My question is what are the widest tires and tallest wheels I can install on my baby? It currently has 245/45 ZR17 95Y fronts and 275/40 ZR18 99Y rear. I really like the newer style C6 wheels but am not sure what will fit. My guess is that it will probably not ride as comfortable compared to my current set-up

Many thanks

Someone with more experience will hopefully chime in, but during the interim, I believe I've read that C6 wheels will fit on the car (18/19). Of course those wheels are heavier which will increase your unsprung mass, slowing your car down, lengthening your braking distances, and diminshing your ride comfort.

This is a worthwhile tradeoff for many on this board.

Congrats on the new car! Try running a 'search' on the forum and you'll probably find your answer faster than waiting for someone to reply to your post.

Last thing...all Corvette owners are supposed to wave to one another on the road, regardless of the year Corvette.

Enjoy!

I would go with Factory Reproductions 2008 C6 wheels; 18x9.5 57mm offset and 19x11 64mm offset. For tires, use 275/35/18 front & 295/35/19 rear. But the only BFG has these size that I'm aware of. Or you could use 265/35/18 front & 305/30/19 rear if you want the widest rear tire that will fit without sticking out.

The 2005-2007 C6 style 19x10 79mm rear wheels will rub the inner fenders unless a 1/4" wheel spacer is used. If you use the 19x10 rear wheels, then use a 18x8.5 56mm offset front wheel. Then use stock C6 size tires (245/40/18 & 285/35/19). There are a lot of tire brands in these sizes.

The stock C6 wheels will fit on many, if not most, C5s. However, due to the different rear wheel offsets, the rears will set much closer to the wheel wells and may rub on some cars. I experienced no problem with them on my 99 coupe. In any case, a 1/4 inch spacer should solve the problem.

Concerning the ride, the C6 wheels, with stock C6 Goodyear GS-2 runflats, ride much smoother than the old C5 wheels with Goodyear runflat tires. However, they were not as smooth as my C5 wheels with Michelin runflats.

Rudy
I just have bought a set of wheels/tires for my 2003 C5 Coupe and they fit perfectly as follows:
Front: Factory Reproductions C6Z06M89C - 18x9.5 with Nitto Invo 275/35-18
Rear: Factory Reproductions C6Z06M91C - 19x11 with Nitto Invo 305/30-19
Looks great and I have a smoother ride (quieter)than before on the GY Runflats.
Will post a picture when possible later.
Thanks
