Default C6 TMPS on a C5??

So, I got the C6 wheels with the TMP sensors, but I just cant get them to work with my 2000 C5, are they compatible?? Or Im going to have to take my old sensors from my old wheels and install them on my new wheels???

I already searched the forum and I just cant find any information about this, Im using a big magnet that works perfect with the old sensors.... HELP please!!!

Use the old sensors (97-00). You might want to consider buying "new" old sensors, depending on the mileage you've driven on the old ones.

The C6 sensors will not work with ANY C5. They transmit on a different radio frequency than either of the two C5 sensor types use.

Install your old sensors, or if they are close to the end of their life (supposed to last 7 years) then install new sensors. You need the 1997-2000 sensors, the newer sensors (2001-2004) won't work for you either.

GM part number 10438853 is the correct sensor for your car.

Damnit..... Well, so I've heard my old sensors may not fit my C6 wheels... is that true???

Also... I've heard you can carefully open the sensors and replace the battery, has someone here done it before?? I know my sensors are working, but, is there a way to find out how old my sensors are?? I mean if they still have a couple years of battery life I wont mess with them.

Thanks

Yeah, there is a guy who replaces the batteries. Just do a search and you should be able to find it.

I know there are plenty of C6 re-pro wheels made specifically for the C5 that will fit the sensor but I am not sure about C6 wheels actually taken off a C6. I too am curious if there are any issues with the C5 TPMS system.

Try calling some of the bigger wheel stores. Like Bob's house of wheels and ask them if a stock C6 wheel can support a C5 wheel sensor. There are a bunch of wheel vendors who are supporting vendors here that you could PM also.

Well, I just swaped the old sensors to my new wheels and they are working perfect.. They had to replace some gasket washers and use some silicone or something to guarantee a good seal, but they are working with no problems now.
