Default Cigarette Lighter problem

I pulled the GPS unit out of my cigarette lighter socket and the whole thing came out! Before I stick my fingers in there and get the crap shocked out of me, has anyone had this problem before? If so, any thoughts as how to get it back in? It looks like it has threads on it and would just screw back in but how does it get power? As I said, before I start fishing around back there???

It screws into the cigar lighter housing (fancy name for a nut) You will have to remove the instrument panel trim plate to reattach it.

12volts won't shock you either unless you are soaked in salt water and then you still wouldn't feel it too much.

Mine was loose for a while which bugged the hell out of me. I finally removed the AC/radio panel and tightened it real snug. No more loose socket for me.

Default Works!

Rather than take apart the dash (I'm getting ready for a show) I decided to work behind the ash tray. I took a pair of needle nosed plyers and held the offending part and screwed the "socket" into the base? Trouble is, I had put the actual lighter in the hole so I wouldn't lose it. I couldn't get it out and when fooling around dropped it somewhere behind the dash. But rather than take apart the dash, I will opt for a new lighter. Which was new anyway for car shows!!! You never win............Anyway, thanks for all the help!
