It can be done but rim width and offset is critical.
For the street and without `30 series tires I don't think it is worth it.
305s would be much less critical.
You need about 7 3/4" backspacing on the rim- max.
I run 315x17s on the front at the track with GS offset ZR1 style 17 x11 wheels. The tires stick out a little from the front fender. The car isn't lowered and the only rubbing problem is with the inner side of the rim not the tire. On tight turns the rim hits the lower control arm and as it turns the inside wheel weight gets stripped off the rim. In SCCA T1 they are only permitted 17x10.5 inch rims on the front and those rims probably will not rub.
I don't have any pictures at this time but will have the wheels out of storage at the end of next month in preparation for track season.
I had a pair of 315/17 GY GSCS mounted on my front 17x9.5 rims. No rubbing. Probably not recommended or optimum, but it worked OK without rubbing. Car is lowered max on adjusters and about -2 degrees camber.
I know of guys that run 315/18 on the front using rear Z06 18x10.5wheels without rubbing.
It probably depends more on wheel width and offset.
