Rubber bushings vs metal bushings...on the two TORX bolts that secures the box beneath the shifter to the torque tube. Since GM sells the shifter as a complete assembly with the box, there are two part numbers.
Actually, looking at the C5/Z06 shifter and the C6/Z06 shifter, there seems to be no difference other than the square **** vs the ergonomic ****, the straight lever vs bent lever with the side fastener, the 9/16-18 threads vs the machined flat, the boots and the rubber bushings vs the metal bushings. Any shifter from either generation will interchange from '97 to '08 if those differences are acceptable to the owner.

It would appear to be a C6 or a C6/Z06 shifter. There's no box beneath the shifter, so no bushings to differentiate.
I can detect the bent back lever and the side hole for the fastener of the ergonomic ****. BUT someone could have drilled a C5/Z06 shifter for the side fastener, bent the lever and attached the C6/Z06 ergonomic ****.
Although, I don't think the ergonomic **** w/o threads will slip easily over the C5/Z06 9/16-18" threads...
