Coolant Sensor Problem
I'm certainly no expert when it comes to vehicle repair, but I have had to replace the coolant temp sensor on my car (when I broke it during a header install). If you want to try to fix it yourself, here's where to look:
The coolant temperature sensor is screwed into the drivers side of the engine, right behind the alternator and right in front of the exhaust manifold. Its a metal sensor (sort of gold in color) with a small wiring harness (2 wires I think) coming out of it. I'd start by checking the wires to make sure one didn't break, then check to make sure the wiring harness is firmly connected to the sensor. If all is well with the wiring, then my guess would be the sensor has gone bad. Fortunately, its relatively cheap to buy a new one (under $40 if I remember correctly) and very easy to install. It just screws in. Its a little messy when you remove the old sensor, because some coolant is going to leak out. But other than that, its a cheap, easy, and quick repair.
Hope that's all the problem is and that it isn't anything bigger.
Good luck
