Steering gear failure
Personaly my car is 19000 miles and the steering is dead once more.
This will make the second failing or the third steering install.
My car is modified and go on track so if you do not road track your car and stay with stock tires this should not happen.
I would like to know for those racing their car on road course track if they had this problem and if their is an upgrade.
I had the full T1 suspension and a camber kit. I run nearly 3 degrees on the front. I run 285-25-18 slick tire on the front.
After I had the first steering failed I added a steering fluid cooler and synthetic fluid. it helps. However I tried to stay under 20 minutes of track times to avoid the fluid to boil as it was still very hot.
What should I do?
change the reservoir for a bigger one made of steel. as I will have more fluid and the steel reservoir will dissipate much more heat.
But as far as the gear. should I try to see if a C6 Z06 will fit?
they should be stronger as they run 275-18 on the front
Is there any good aftermarket one?
I also hear that the 08 C6 improvement is a better steering.
will this fit?
