Default C5 - Fuel Cell

I'm thinking of getting a C5 but what I plan to do with it requires a fuel cell.
I don't know anything about the construction of the stock tanks. Do they satisfy fuel cell requirements?
If not has anyone installed a fuel cell who will share their experience?
Thanks in advance.

P.S. I did a search but did not find much.

http://www.atlfuelcells.com/ is the HOME page ... go to ....

http://www.atlinc.com/US/catalogs.html

and select the US catalog .... go to page 18 and you will see Pratt & Miller are the agents in the US for th Corvette fuel cells.....

http://www.prattmiller.com/home.php

Good luck, I've heard the system is hideously expensive ......

Default What are you up too

Just wondering what you are going that you need a fuel cell? Open Road Racing? Not sure of exact price at Pratt and Miller but I think it is in the $4500-5000 range. I was looking for some awhile back for my TT ZO6, I have an ATL in the C4 race car. It is a nice unit. If you find ANYTHING else please post.
Good Luck,
Jeffy'

Default I made the call

I called Pratt and Miller to see what the quote is. The guy I spoke to was having computer problems so could not give me exact quote. He will get back to me within 24hrs. What he did say was delivery would take 4 weeks.

Thanks for all of your responses. I heard of Pratt & Miller but have not talked with them yet.
One of the things I plan to use the C5 for is open road racing, i.e. Silver State Classic. If you want to tech at speeds higher than 165mph the rules require a fuel cell.

Default I had a feeling

You are making a wise choice to try the Open Road Racing thing. I have been doing it for 10 years. It is big time fun and that is not just the race. It is a assorted group of crazies that do this. The reason I am interested in fuel cells is also for a C5 is for Open Roading. Thre is another group in Nevada besides Silver State. They are MKM Racing here is a link:
www.openroadracing.com

I have spoken with the head tech guy at MKM and with the factory bladders in a C5 they will tech you to 180 without a fuel cell if you have everything else for that level. With Silver State I don't know yet I will find out in May.
On a side note Have you ever done this before or have a fair bit of racing experience? If not you will be limited to a 125 Average and 145 tech the first time. You have to work your way up to the higher speeds. One thing that is nice about MKM over Silver State is that qualifying is on a portion of the actual race course not a road course that is nothing like the race. If you have any questions just ask, we can always use more racers. I will warn you about one thing this tpye of racing is addictive. Once you do it you will want to keep coming back.

I've been running Panteras in ORR events for years. The Big Bend event
is this months. I think it's the best of the lot. You won't need a cell in a Vette for your first run because you have to start in a lower group in
your first event.
