I need some help to figure out what is wrong with my 99 coupe 6 speed corvette. It has about 85K miles. It has been giving me problems when i put the car into reverse for sometime now. However recently reverse just does not want to go in. Before i just had to keep my hand on the shifter from having it pop out. These last few days i have not been able to get it into reverse. It makes a grinding noise when i try to put it into reverse. I have read some people's threads before and want to get some advice as to what might be causing this. Do i need to rebuild the Tranny or replace the clutch or maybe it is something else since all the other gears work fine. I would appreciate anyones advice.
Did you use Mobil 1 transmission fluid in it? I hope not.
It will destroy the paper blockers!
Mine does the same thing, I have to hold it in, It is more than likely the synchro, live with it or get it rebuilt! I know a guy that will rebuild it for $1250 with a one year warranty, and up grade it to carbon fiber blocker and such......
