I just installed a set of LG Street headers on my 2000 C5. The install was fairly straight forward, but the angle brackets on the forward collectors do not line up with the center bracket (forward H pipe support). I ended up making a bracket to bridge the gap and give them something to bolt to. I am concerned that the headers stick out too far and there is very little clearance if any between the headers and the heat shrooud along the tunnel where the tubes come down. I am hesitant to try and bend or pull them in to get the brackets to line up and I am not sure I could move them this much anyway (1.5-2 inches). Would appreciate any advice and if others have had this problem. Thanks.
I am halfway through the install myself and have the same issue. What did you use to make the bracket? I need to make a trip to the hardware store tomorrow to fabricate something. There is no way I can bend the pipes in order for the tab to reach. I am surprised there isn't a set of brackets included. As for the clearance, I don't think that will pose much of a problem as long as none of the wires are touching.
I bought an 8 inch piece (about 1.25 inches wide) of flat steel bracket in the hardware (fence and gate hardware section - $1.89) of Home Depot and trimmed the corners and drilled holes to match the mount holes. It is an adequate mount, but I worry that there is insufficient clearance for the headers as I have some rattles now. I think some of it is caused by the rough idle in the engine due to my cam install, which I hope will improve with a tune.
I'm having the same issues. Both brackets are 1/2" from their mounting holes when they hit the tunnel. I'm planning to test fit the cats and x-pipe before fabricating anything just in case they need to move a bit.
i had issues on my LG pro install yesterday...so much for the simple bolt on no issue install....the damn tabs on the headers didnt even come close to lining up had to open up the tabs as well as open up the top portion of the stock bracket so i could move that some as well..could have gave us a little more room on their tiny tabs to line up to the stock hanger in the front....Im going back under there tomorrow to check for anything loose got a exhaust rattle thats driving me nuts
This seems to be the only real issue with these headers. I too had the same problem. I was told though by the mechanic that it was okay to do nothing about it. I see though a lot of you guys are concerned. Should I also be? When I shook the pipes everything was solid, and this is after a month of being installed.
If you are talking about where the rear of the headers bolts to the bottom of the fly wheel cover, check the bag again. They do include a bracket to use. It bolts to the bottom of the fly wheel cover and then the headers bolt to it.

I'm glad I hadn't thrown out the box yet, as there is was...lying in the bottom under some packaging. Thanks for the heads-up.
I wondered what those two "extra" bolts were for.

The bracket is about 1.5 inches wide x 6 inches long. It has 2 oval drilled out areas and 2 holes. Total of 4 bolts go through it. 2 to the bellhousing and 2 to the header tabs.
FYI...my LG Streets did not have this bracket in the bag. I had the bolts, but no bracket. I spoke with Bobby at LG and he said the bracket is only used to align the pipes during installation and that you are not supposed to keep it attached.
That the bracket is only used for aligning the pipes doesn't make sense. There is little play in the holes on the head flanges and removing the bracket will only allow the pipes to spring back.

I was confused myself. I just installed mine last week and was surprised when there was no bracket in the bag. I called LG and they told me it is only used for alignment during installation. I have seen some other posts that said something about promoting cracking if the bracket is left in place.

no way....don't believe it....the bracket lines up perfectly and simply aids in taking the weight from the cats, xpipe and mufflers off of the headers. I feel more comfortable knowing its there....there is no way the tabs would fit to get to the holes....way to far away, you would definitely do damage to your heads where the headers bolt up if you even attempted to stretch it with the LG streets. I could be wrong but that definitely would hold true to my 2002.
How about someone from LG jump in an clear this up about the bracket. Obviously, providing a decent set of instructions and all parts in the shipment would avoid these issues.
