Default Oil pressure sensor slow death?

Had the battery unhooked for my header install last weekend and did an oil change while I was in there (mobil 0/30 and delco oil filter). On the first test drive I notice higher than normal oil pressure 60-70 driving and idle low 60s. Today I drove it to work for the first time (30 miles), started the drive at 60psi, ended at 82 at idle. While driving the DIC reads as high as 101 at 2k RPM. I turned the car off and it reads 59psi with the motor off after 5 minutes.

Anyone ever heard of a pressor sensor going bad gradually like that? I always thought they were go/no go

The only issue with the oil change was that I had stab the old oil filter with a screw driver to get it to turn, nothing happened with the filter adapter or anything (just noting that).

Thoughts??

When I had one go bad, it read low, never high.
Maybe it got cracked, or isn't fully plugged in.

Mine went high to 80-90 and just stuck there. Lots of info on this in the forum. Lookup "Oil pressure sensor".

Already read every one of them

Confirmed sensor is dead! Slowly got to 130 and now stays there, changed oil and filter just for warm fuzzy and no change.

Looks like fast 90/90 time

When my oil pressure sensor went out, it pegged high and stayed there.

Yes, its dying as you suspect. When you get it out, you will probably find oil inside the connector. To be sure, turn on the ignition without starting the engine. If it reads something other than zero...sensor is done.

Did it myself after reading the sticky at the top of the tech section. Here's a link with my inputs at the end.

Good luck, it isn't bad.

If you all are buying sensors from a dealer and they fail right away or within a year, take them back. They are warrantied by GM for a whole year and its the only way to convince GM that they have a problem.
