Default "remove Key And Wait 10 Seconds".

Hi guys,
My 99 gave me a new problem to think about last night.
When I started the car all was fine then the display message said to "REMOVE KEY AND WAIT 10 SECONDS".
I put the car in reverse and the engine died. I removed the key waited 10 seconds and restarted the can and went on my way.
This happened again the next time I used the car but did not happen thids morning.
What am I looking for here?
Thanks for any feed back
Mark

The first question to be asked "are you familiar with the column lock bypass?"

Let us know how much you know, then we can help.

$50 is a small price to pay to avoid being stranded in a parking lot (or worse)

Clean the two pellet contacts on the key. Clean with alcohol or run a pencil eraser over the contacts.

Keep the key clean in the future to avoid dirt buildup in the key hole. Remember the key hole has electrical contacts that mate with the key pellet.

Dirty contacts result in faulty electrical readings.
