Default New Valve Spring Before and after Dyno sheet inside.

I recently had the Crane 1.8 roller rockers installed in my car. At High RPM the Valves started to float. Today New Springs were installed and here is the print out to show the improvement.

Also, my car had a miss in it from day one. None of the dealerships could fix it. After a while one of the dealerships didnt really want to even talk about it with me anymore. So, In addition to the New springs that were installed the #7 coil pack was found to be bad by RPM and it was replaced. No More Miss!! After 3 years!!! My Car finally runs right!!

Steve,
You do realize that I will hold you directly responsible for the depletion of my bank account. This due to the the need to maintain some sense of paraity within the black and white crew.
Looks like I may have to pull the bottle down off of the shelf.
Can't wait to hear that high rpm screem at ButtonWillow. :bb

Vetterdstr, happy to hear that your car finally is not missing. I can't believe the techs at the dealership didn't bother to check your coil packs! :smash: That just reinforces my fear of taking my car to the dealership for anything.

340+ RWHP, that's awesome. Not quite as much as a mild cam, but I guess it's like a very small cam. Enjoy.

what kind of dealer are they? a simple scan should have found this!!! or the good-ol fashioned Sun scope would have found it, as well. Sheeesshh.

MDL, the gains after the New Rockers, springs, LS6 intake & TPIS long tubes were 21 rwhp & 10 RWTQ. I know 21 RWHP does not sound like much, these 3 mods will be important to the next round of the BIG HP parts! ;)

I guess I should have clarified what this post was about. The difference that a new set of springs make on High RPM valve float. Initially I was told I didnt need a new set of Valve springs with the install of the 1.8's. That is why I didnt put them in at the time of the initial install. When I got the car back, it pulled much harder than before until about 5600. Then it fell on its face. After much Computer & MAFT tuning it was decided that the springs needed to be replaced.

I put a new chart up, (one that you can read) ;) the red line is before the springs and the blue line is after the spring install. You guys can see the difference as to how the engine flutters (in the red) at 5400 rpm and drops off drasticly when the valvefloat starts and it never really makes it to 6200 RPM. Now the HP curve (Blue line) is much better without those problems and the engine pulls smoothly to 6400!!

With the car not running correctly (until now) I was not wanting to install internal mods like Heads, cam, crank, rods and pistons. For fear that this engine would never run correctly no matter how much HP I added to it. Now with it running right... I can go forward with the big ticket HP Mods with this engine. :smash:

In the past when I took it to the dealership they would hook up the Tech2 and tell me that it was not picking up any problems. 4 dealerships did this! They told me that the computer was so advanced.... it would pickup any problems with a coil pack. Today I am going to the Dealership I dealt with and we are having a little talk! :mad

JT, I take Full Responsibility!! :hat Speaking of screaming down the buttonwillow #1 straightaway... I just happen to have a Wav file of the very same thing! :yesnod: This was recorded as I drove by the camera. I was shifting the car at 5500 because of the valve float I had above that rpm. I am shifting from 3rd to 4th gear in this tape.

I cant wait to hear it at 6400 RPM!! I really do love the sound of this!! http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c5/vetterdstr//bwgf.wav

The Stock cam is still in the car, With the miss I had since day one I really didnt want to install a new cam because I didnt know what was wrong with the engine. I did gain .30 lift with the 1.8 rockers. They installed LS6 Springs to fix the problem. Soon it will be time for a cam and many other goodies! :)

Do you have a graph of just the gains with the 1.8 rockers?

js, we did extensive traces with an Ease program (like Autotap Just with more info)and it didnt show a bad coil. The dealership said that the tech2 would show a bad coil though. :bs

Kewl, I dont have a dyno for just the 1.8's. :cry The 1.8's, long tubes & Intake, Be Cool Radiator & Z51 Power steering Oil cooler were installed at the same time. ;)

Good work Steve.

I am almost at that juncture when I will decide when I am getting the H/C package. I get the bonus next week so must make my mind up soon.

Good news! :) I just got off the phone with Carl Chevrolet. Ed Bevens (Assistant Service Manager) told me to bring in the receipt for the new coil work on my car and he would go to bat for me to get money back for the replacement and cost of the coil. Thats what I call Customer Service!!
