Upper Shock Mounts - Rear Suspension
How hard is it to access the upper rear shock mounts? I have a bump or thump when turning left and there is an elevation change. It seems to happen every time I turn into my driveway, which allows the rear suspension to unload, thump, then when the car gets some weight back on the rear wheel, thump. I am thinking I may have a loose mount on the shock or something.
So far I have removed the spindle nut, greased the splines and retorqued the nut. Wiggled the wheel with the car off the ground, no bad ball joints or tie rod ends, everything nice and tight.
The car is an 02 Z06.
Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
There are two bolts at the top of the shock .... just remove the rear wheels and look at the top of the shocks .... they should be tightened to 22 lb/ft ... so not really very tight. That big lower mounting bolt for the shocks .. a whopping 162 lb/ft.
Also check the sway bar mounts, and the sway bar end links .... the link nuts should be 53 lb/ft, the upper mounting bracket bolts 49 lb/ft and the lower bracket bolts 70 lb/ft.

I would try and shake the shocks to sse if they are loose before removing them and check all of your other suspension bolts for tightness.
