Rat a Tat Tat
I have a situation that I'm not sure about I went to at least 5 different places and got 5 different answers.
I have a tapping noise(not when I first start up) but while im in idle I can hear it. Then while driving I hear it loudly but as soon as i shift to the next higher gear it goes away and I hear nothing until I get almost to the "REV' limit of that gear then I shift to the next gear and it goes away until its time to shift to the next higher gear.
I have tried the following...seafoam,marvelous mystery oil,lucas fuel treatment, an oil change and a quart of Lucas oil stabilizer.
I've been told its my lifters(wouldnt they tap all the time), Ive been told its my plugs or coil packs(engine has thrown no codes). I've been told by the dealership its not serious if it was my knock sensor wouldve alarmed me. Ive been told to try 15W 40(not sure if my oil pump could handle this.
Any ideas and why? I use shell 93 gas only, 1997 with 95k miles
