A buddy of mine has ran into a deal where he could possibly get a 1990 ZR1 with 11K miles for $20K. What do you guys think about that? I think it is just about perfect condition and it is un-modified. What are the known problems with these cars/things to look for? Thanks! :D
my last vette was a near mint looking 91 ZR1 with low miles (24k miles). i had tons of problems with it. lots of little things (alternator, door lock, window motor, rear defrogger, squeaky and leaking roof panel, ran HOT/HOT/HOT, a/c not very cold) then it had a never-ending driveability problem; off-idle hesitiation + wouldnt pass emissions to save my 6 oclock. replaced dam-near everything, too, to get it to pass(cat, total tune-up 2x, lots-o-visits to the dealer w/no problems found-but still wouldnt pass). with all that aside, the biggest problem was that very few people actually know how to work on these cars. the dealer i took it to struggled with it every time i took it in. i did love how it looked, though. i would only recommend a ZR1 to a hard-core LT5 enthusiast that has his ducks in a row: knows of a reputable ZR1 mechanic first and foremost.
Thanks for the info.....I'll pass it along. Does anyone know how the price looks? It seems like a good price given mileage/condition. I have seen others with more miles going for a lot more money...........
