and I agree about the clutch...a slipping clutch would make the car just roll back as if it were in neutral and make it impossible to turn the motor...and my clutch is new anyway

No offense ... but the C5 (5th generation) Z06 Corvette (the forum you are posting in) puts down (2002 thru 2004) 405 HP from the factory. There are guys on here with turbo/super charged Z06 who think 500 HP is childs play ...

Then look at the (current) Z06 (C6 ... 6th generation) .... 505 HP from the factory ... no turbo needed ....

The GT-R is interesting .... but the Corvette will be tromping on them all day ......

Compare ......

GT-R is according to various web sites about about 700 pounds heavier than a Corvette and has less torque and HP (can't verify this for sure since my browser can't open http://www.gtrnissan.com .... I get "error on page" .... very impressive ...)

The Nissan site ( http://www.nissanusa.com/gt-r/index.html ) says the GT-R has "irrefutable racing DNA" .... uh .... like racing what ??????

Both Honda and Toyota are in Formula1 .... Honda provides engines for the IRL series in the US .... Toyota is a "player" in NASCAR ..... Nissan has done what racing ?????

And then don't even think about what the upcoming ZR1 Corvette will do to a GT-R owner ... that poor Nissan guy will be crawling back to his garage wondering how he spent so many American dollars (as so many Porsche and Ferrari owners have done) to buy a car that loses to a Corvette ....

lol if you say so guy, i think you guys are being way to cocky about the GT-R...but hey I drive an RSX so who am I to talk about that

of course a z06 can easily surpass a 500whp rsx with some mods...I was just saying not to take it forgranted...i mean you are comparing a 25k fwd sport compact to a world class sports car...all I was saying there are some quick rsx's out there...obviously vettes have a ton more potential

anyway i didn't come here to start an import vs domestic fight, I came here because I was curious as to why my car and the TS's car are rolling backwards in gear

You are right ... You drive a performance car (and just by the numbers it is a performance car) .... and let's respect each other ....

Hopefully this forum has helped you understand that your car is NORMAL ... you might have a problem .... but check your compression and I bet all is normal ....

hope to see you on this forum again (with a Corvette .... )

You sound like a "car guy" .... hang here anytime ... there are thousands of "car guys" who love a BMW ... a Toyota .... a Corvette .... a Jaguar .....

We all need to hang together and make sure those freakin' green lunatics don't take our cars away ......

GT-R = 480hp from a car that weighs over 3800lbs. Really nothing more to say about it. Only place to watch out for them is the rear view mirror.

To the OP I hope you fix your problem, but the GT-R's horsepower is low balled. The dynoed one with 475hp to the wheels. With a 15% drivetrain loss(It probably has about 20% loss since it's all wheel drive) that adds up to about 550 to the crank. It doesn't make since how a 480hp car that weighs 3800 pds can beat a porsche and a Z06 around the track. I just don't think it would be a good idea to race one from a dig if your in a stock C5 or C6. lol. The corvette still looks way sexier though

Its not fair to the op that you guys r arguing over other cars. Theirs other sections and threads for that. Lets not post further on that because then we will just get more ppl trying to get the final word/point. To the op, how steep is the grade and how fast does the car get moving from rest?

yeah i didn't come here to argue about cars..lol

ok so something that pertains to the topic

i ran a compression test and it came out pretty even
172 168 172 176..so i dont think there is anything wrong with my car...not sure about the ts

ill say this about in favor of the vette...i bet the C6 Z06 7.0 motor proves less problematic then the GT-R's 3.8TT V6..nissan quality has been sorta sketchy of late

The OP was a moron who wasn't getting the car in gear ..... read this thread through .... update your profile .... nothing wrong with discussing cars in a "dead" thread

Nothing wrong with your car at those pressures ... just check that your parking brake is working OK ... the Corvette has a mechanical parking brake that is a drum brake .... seperate from the hydraulic disk brakes .... it is possible for the drum brake to be failing while the hydraulic brakes work fine .... so check how your parking brake system works.

Nissan ANYTHING has been of questionable value for the last few years .... engineering (the GT-R weighs how much ???? ... what a freakin joke ) ... quality ...... race "heritage" ...... (in what ???) .... Nissan deserves less respect than Ford .......
