Do you need to disconnect the battery like you do if you have an MSD ignition, to prevent damage. I know when I had some welding done on my hot rod the guy that did told me to disconnect the positive terminal. Did so, no problems with the MSD.
Not sure if the vette would need that but to me makes sense. The corvette has so much digital stuff more then likely some damage would occur. Please advise.
My problem is the front end drags going up my driveway plan to have the wheel sets I purchase installed and welded, I have alread drilled and placed them, just need to get it to the welding fab shop to have the workd done.
Hopefully this week for now the vette drags going up the driveway after the install should roll where it would noramlly drag.
No disrespect intended to the two posters before me. Before a change of professions I used to be a certified welder. One word of caution here. If you do not take the precaution of disconnecting the battery, and all of the two minutes it takes to do so, you are putting your electrical system in danger. If who ever is doing the welding and he/she "sticks" an electrode/wire you have a great chance of frying your ECM (computer). If you feel lucky, than go right ahead. Me, I take the time to do it right and disconnect the bat. and no I don't stick wires or electrodes but I am not taking the chance of wiping out my custom tune or frying my computer.

I had planned to do so regardless but wanted some verification. makes since to me, he will not be welding around any wires but its the precaution whats the saying 10 cents of caustion worth a pound of dollars when it comes to murphy and mistakes.
Have a great day the tech that will do the work is out, I left him a card and he will call once its done I will post a pic or two and one of the dreaded driveway that drove this mod.

The electrical pulse can go anywhere in the electrical system and can fry more than just the PCM. A friend took his Mercedes into the dealer to have some welding work done and they forgot to disconnect the battery and ended up paying for a new radio.
I'll add a little common sense thing that can cause major problems if overlooked.Always connect the welding ground as close to the work as possible and never attach the ground to anything with bearings in it.( In addition to disconnecting the battery first)Chuck.
Somewhere in the tech section it was even stated to disconnect the two control modules. Even if it only has a little merit to it, it's all of 15 mins to disconnect and then you don't have to worry.
