Default c6 wheels going on c5 coupe

I have read and done the searches but came across mixed explinations. Does anyone have oem c6 wheels on their c5? Did you use spacers? Do you have any issues? I want the 1" upgrade in the front and rear but do not want any rubbing or tubbing. I know they make aftermarkets in the 17"frong and 18" rear but I have a set of 18"front and 19" rear off a c6 and would like them on my car.

Thanks!

No problems with OEM C6 wheels on my 1999. However, the rear wheels set really close to the fender wells. Some rubbing has been reported with some cars. I would just put them on and give it a try. If they should rub a 1/4 inch spacer should take care of the problem.

For the same price, you can buy the aftermarket C6 wheels, and the C5 offset will keep you from rubbing.. I've got the C6 Z06 18" X 19" with nooooooo problems...

Since I only paid $500 for the wheels with mounted Goodyear runflats, I doubt that even the Chinese can beat that price. I actually bought a new set of OEM polished C6 rims for $227 on ebay. I have had no rubbing problems with the OEM C6 wheels.

That's the same size as I have on mine as well. It's REALLY close to rubbing on the inside. I decided to buy 1" adapters for peace of mind and a more aggressive look. Here is a picture for ya:

Yes, and no problems. I ran them 2 months, no rubbing on the inside, but close. Later added 1/4" spacers, still no problems. Put them on!!!

I just replaced my stock setup (17X8.5 Front / 18X9.5 Rear) with C6 Z06 Chrome (17X9.5 / 18X10.5) with no issue at all. I believe the C5 Z06 have the later size. No rub, fills out the well and comes right to the edge of the body, looks real sharp. Avoid spacers if at all possible, purchase the right tire to fit your vehicle. Here is a web site you need to look at to find the right size for your vette.

http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs...&text1=&text2=

This helped me keep the sizes close to original as not to affect the ABS & computer black box of the vette. Remember, engineers designed the set up, if you alter the size of the wheel you have changed ratio, ABS, timing of shift, etc. I'm no engineer, so I tried to keep it as close to original as possible. Good Luck Jesse

I have been running C6 OEM's on my '01 coupe for 3 years. I used 1/4" spacers in the rear only and NEVER have rubbing. You won't need to have longer studs either; full engagement with the 1/4" spacers.

No speedometer issues because overall tire dim. are approx. the same.
Stock; Front 17X8.5 Rim -- P245/45ZR17 Tires -- overall dia. 25.7"
Rear 18X9.5 Rim -- P275/40ZR18 Tires -- overall dia. 26.7"

Went to:
Front 17X 9.5 Rim -- P275/40ZR17 Tires -- overall dia. 25.7"
Rear 18X10.5 Rim -- P295/35ZR18 Tires -- overall dia. 26.1"

As far as the ratio, nothing has changed. It is a tad wider (enough to fill the wells up to the side of the sheet metal) but not enough to get a ticket for to wide a wheel (I know I'm a Police Officer). Rides the same, looks fuller. Thinking of lowering but hate to due to rubbing of front spoiler (it rubs now on everything). It took me a while to find the right size. You can go up to 18" front and 19" rear, just lower the tire sidewall, but you pay in the ride department, it looks cool but rides like an M1 Tank (unless you like that ride). Good luck. PS good question.. same one I had when I started. Jesse

Here on the forum of course! I had been looking for one for quite some time. They are pricey...around $350. I got a deal on here from someone that had gotten tired of it.
