Mike said he that an A4 vette made 440rwhp last week, I think the converter was unlocked. That was a 388 with the 229 cam. Not sure if it had cats or not. Mine will. If I can make 425 rwhp through the unlocked converter I'll be happy.
Mike Morgan MMS. Same motor setup as mine pretty much if I ever save up my pennies, LOL. Tranny and TQ tube should be done this week. Wheels and Tires next. Will put engine on my Credit Card and ship mid-Jan as a worst case scenario here I believe.
Nope, just 2000 replacements for the stock ones that failed.
If GM had their act together I could have upgraded to the stronger '01-'02 shaft, but they wouldn't allow that part. Yet another reason I'm looking forward to not being under GM Warranty and going 3rd Party Ext. Warranty so I can choose my own parts.
Will be nice having the new pieces tho. Rare for a TQ Tube to fail. Bad Tranny probably killed it.
The 388 All bore uses the stock stroke, with a 4.125 resleeved bore.
The best thing about an all bore is the unshrouding of the valves, and the quick stroke. The short stroke relative to bore, develops horsepower much more rapidly, and reduces sidewall loading substantially.
Bore over stroke is the only way to go for drag racing type performance.
The beuty of an all bore LS1/LS6 is that it is the ultimate bang for buck engine to build, and you can even spend less by using your stock crank and rods.
Expect 460+ Hp with nearly as much torque from a 388 all bore motor with the right heads/cam combo and all the bolt ons. More with programming and tuning.
