Default tech help please

ok guys i took the day off to fix what i thought was a starter problem,me and a friend decided to have the battery checked first and we came to found out the battery was bad i replaced it with a red top op. so we get home and put the battery on and the car cranks up fine but the charge gage is showing 10 volts and not charging at all we decide that the alternator might me bad so we take it off and have it tested,it tested out fine, so we get home and for kicks we put his alternator off his vette on my car same problem 10 volts and no charging on the gage. someone please help me bill curlee please chime in with your expert advice

Bill is the best person as you already know. I think the PCM controls how much charge load the alternator is commanded to run but I'm really not sure. Start with the obvious things first, insuring all connections are clean and tight. Check the ground connections and one that I think Bill has mentioned is right between the battery and the fuse box. Codes?????
