My a/c blows cold on the drivers side and hot on the passenger side. Pulled codes and 3 are current BO363, BO441 and BO446. Other codes pulled in history are BO361,363,365 and 367. Just bought the car. It is a 1998 Conv with auto trans. Please point me in the direction to start with the Dio.
I believe that the 361 refers to the HVAC door actuator. PM JR-VETTE about a post for resetting the actuator control. It is a real pain in the butt to do, but it works. The other issues may be best fixed by and HVAC expert.
I had the same issue, but it was the driver's side that would always blow hot air. Turns out that the driver's side HVAC actuator went bad. I tried resetting it by clearing the codes and pulling the appropriate fuses, but ultimately ended up replacing it. I've heard that the 2001+ HVAC head units can compensate for actuators that have gone out of alignment, but I don't know if that is true.
Yup got those codes before. Mine went dead on the passenger side and it would blow hot on the passenger side. No amout of resetting/ indexing would help- well it would up until the dash goes back together then it would crap out and reset itself into the hot position. Finally got tired of taking dash apart that night and pulled the plug out of it when in "cold" position. I will replace the next time I feel like cleaning the bottom of the dash
Before you start replacing things, check the freon charge on the A/C system. There have been cases where the system would only blow cool air on one side, and just charging the system corrected the problem.
If the freon thing does not work out, then there are some decent instructions on here for Drivers side HVAC Actuator replacement without pulling the dash. Forum search for HVAC actuator). Getting to the pass actuator requires removing the dash panel, but if you are already doing driver's side, only a few more screws to take the dash panel out. Just don't forget to remove the A-pillers (grip and rip held by clips) or you will tear them (ask me how I know).
The kenworth set of actuators on that auction site look very similar and a much lower price.
Search Kenworth peterbuilt HVAC actuators.
The B06x codes you are getting are actuator "out of range" codes. The gear inside cracks, and the HVAC control unit cannot figure out the "range" of the doors.
The 4xx codes are another story and may point to freon - not sure.
How long of a project is it to take the dash out, replace the A/C actuator, and put the dash back together to solve this problem? Are we talking 2 hours, 8 hours or 2 full days?
I'm more than mechanically inclined, but I'm just wondering what a pain this fix is, and what kind of time I should allow.
Hi, one thing to check for before you look at anything else is the area under the battery. If your car was one of the unfortunate ones that had a leaking battery, there might be a broken vacumn line in that region,or worse. It is a good idea to look there,as that has been the problem for some that exhibited your cars symptoms
Good Luck

8 hours going slow.
If you've taken the radio out before, then its not much farther, just some bolts under/in the glove box, some under the defroster vent, and remove the a-pillars (grip and rip). Two bolts on the sides under the front of the a-pillars.

I agree- if you have a targa take that out so you can lift it towards you & out.
