If you're going to go to the trouble of swapping out the systems, why not go for a nice aftermarket instead of a different OE?
I think the components are plug-and-play, IIRC, but most of us who have the Bose system will vouch that it's really nothing special. Try the audio section of the forum for better info.
Thanks all, I have a very nice aftermarket in my FRC was going to put that in my new c5 and take the bose out of the new one and put it in the FRC to sell it

Oh, well that makes sense.
Still, might wanna check in the Audio section to confirm interoperability rather than taking my word for it.
I have a non-Bose head unit in my 2000 hardtop. It provides excellent sound, but only has a tape deck, no CD. I have tried a half dozen different CD head units in it and none will work.
The non-Bose has one plug from the harness and every unit I have tried has two plugs. (I have disassembled the dash and can find no second plug.) I talked to the folks at http://www.corvetteradios.com/ and they have a unit that comes with the CD and will work, but it is $425 and I just don't drive it enough to justify the expense. It is non-Bose and is not very common. Part #16201841 I was told to make the more common units work, you need to swap out the dash harness.
Good luck, and if you find a way to make the more common GM, CD head units work, please share it.
