Default Help! engine missing - P0300 code

Shortly after filling up with premium the car started missing and the check engine light started flashing. I suspect bad gas, either crap or water or both. What's the easiest way to check the fuel? Or to drain the entire tank? If the injectors are clogged is there a way to tell? And how are these cleaned?

Many questions but I appreciate any and all input.

P0300 is a general misfire code, if you have access to a scanner then it might be able to narrow your problem down. If your misfire is from a particular cylinder then the scanner will display the code as P-030X (X will be the bad cylinder), in other words if the scanner shows P-0305, then cylinder #5 is the misfire. if the scanner still shows P-0300 then it is a random/multiple cylinder misfire and then it could be a number of problems.

Is there a reason you suspect bad gas?

Well, I had just filled up w/ premium within the last I'd say 5-7 miles before I started having problems. Also, put in a bottle of techtron.. Wonder if that stirred something up?

Did you put the Techron in before adding the fuel, or after ?? It is possible you "stirred" something up, but the fuel filter should have caught anything before it got to an injector.

What DTC data is the car showing ??? As runamuk said, you probably have a P0300 for the misfire, but are there any other codes ???

There are two fuel tanks, and they can be drained by disconnecting the feed hoses and letting the fuel run into a storage container. Each tank holds about 9 gallons, so you will need enough gas cans to hold about 18 gallons of fuel. I would recommend holding off on doing this yet .....

I'd start by checking the engine ground straps (G104, G105,, G106, G107), if one is coming loose it can cause a miss. Also check visually the spark plug wires ..... make sure they are all snapped onto the coils and plugs .... one may be partially off.

Again, check for DTC posted, especially any PCM codes.

The only Current code is the P0300 code w/ the check engine light either flashing or steady. Can I siphon from the top at least one tank? Techtron was put in before on a nearly empty tank per the instructions. Last time I do that howeve.

Thanks

Good news... found the problem. It was a loose plug wire. Hooked er up and all was well.
