Default Mechanical Overrev Protection for MN6?

Yep still thinking about this..
I was chatting with a buddy today about this and he was wondering if there was a way to keep the engine from mechanically being overrevved. i.e 3rd to 2nd shift

So here is a thought...what if there was a device similar to an ABS pump in line between the master and the slave cylinder.. once the overrev condition was recognized this pump would engage thus forcing a clutch disengagement..

Just a thought..

With all the Scheit that breaks during racing... you'd think someone would come up with ideas to ward off disaster before it happens..

That's an interesting idea, but you could probably build a ratchet type shifter instead and just sling that up there.

I've always thought about building one.

Something like that could work, but it might get somewhat sophisticated as a computer would have to control it, and that computer would have to know what gear you're in and what the speed of the car was so it could decide if a mechanical over-rev condition exists.

It might be easier to make the shifter/tranny do some kind of lock-out so it couldn't be shifted into a lower gear at certain speeds ... just like the reverse lock-out and the 1st to 4th skip shift is controlled by the ECU.

I would put in a hurst and use the two strongest dual springs on each side under the alan nuts.
Then tighten the right alan nut 3/4 of the way down and leave the left alan nut 1/4 down.
Sit in the car and try to shift from 3rd in to second really fast. If you get into second then tighten the right alan nut even more until you start bouncing off the gate between 2nd and 4th.
One solution to your problem.
