This is what I found.

Three year old Patriot Golds with many, many trips to 6700+ rpm.

Excuse my ignorance, but if one goes, would you replace them all? Clean looking. (You are correct, in my best Sgt Schultz, "I know nothing!")

How loud was the ticking? I fear that I might have the same problem because I accidentally overreved the car to 7k when I missed a shift, and I now hear a very faint tick at idle. I can only hear it from inside though, and not outside or with the hood popped.

Do you think I broke a valve spring?

OUCH!

BTW, I'd better wear my glasses more often when I'm online. I won't bother telling you what I THOUGHT the title of this thread was.

The tick wasn't abnormally loud, this car has the sewing machine valvetrain sound,it just changed pitch a little. If I wasn't so **** about the car I probably wouldn't have checked it out, until it ate a valve... or worse. Glad they're dual springs.
