Belts, water pump, alternator, power steering? The smell could be a belt being burned from slipping when the engine got warm, when the engine was cooler it may have contracted and quit slipping.

car has 40000 miles on it, running fine , gave it hard throttle 1st, 2nd 3rd , running fine. 20 min before hand sounded like was not running on all cylinders and had a bent valve or something

I'd bet you have an engine ground strap coming loose. The P0200 indicates an electrical problem with the fuel injectors, and if the spark plugs aren't firing because of a ground problem that would account for the smell of petrol. A loose connection would also explain why the problem is intermittent.
If it is not a ground strap, check the spark plug wires to ensure they are on both the coils and the plugs correctly.
My money's on a ground. See Bill Curlee's excellent sticky at the top of this forum for information on the grounds.
See also the end of this thread to see how "easy" it is for a ground strap to come loose ....
