Default electrical draw

So guys,
on my way to vegas this weekend......I was using my blinker to make lane changes and i heard a faint sound everytime i made a lane change.......Turned on my volt gauge when i made a lane change and i could see the volts drop from 14.1 to 13.5 ,13.6....where do you guys think i should start looking first?? once again thanks in advance....

The voltage on the DIC will drop some when a load is first put on the system. You can see the same thing when hitting the brake lights or moving a window up or down.

At night, you can even see the headlights and dash lights dim slightly for a half second (but come right back) when big electrical loads are put on the system. I've researched this before, and most will say it's normal to some degree. Even after I put the Optima Red Top in the car, I could still see the slight voltage drop and light dimming.

Sounds perfectly normal to me. Any time a load is put on the electrical system (like each time the turn signal relay turns the turn signal bulbs on (likely the faint sound you heard)), voltage will dip until the voltage regulator can compensate for the increased current draw. These voltage transients are typically ~1/2 second long. If the current draw is big enough (light full headlights/parking lights), the voltage may drop a couple tenths and stay there. Automotive 12V systems are not designed to maintain perfectly constant voltage; changes with changing eletrical loads is normal.

what if i am seeing a little dip once in a while when i havent put any load on the system. i do see a little dip when stuff like the brake lights come on, but i also see it dip every once ina while when i havent touched a thing... just cruising along, or even sitting at idle. just curious if i need to investigate more. maybe like a .5 dip on the meter
