My drivers door latch scrapes against the door strike post when closing. It's looks like the door strike post needs to be moved down about 1/8". Do I do an adjustment at the door strike (loosen 2 screws and move downn) or door hinges?
As an added note, if I lift up on the door handle when closing it does not scrape. The scraping is wearing down the metal on the door.
Re: Is the Door Strike Post Adjustable? (ProDesign)
I had the same problem trying to reallign the striker/latch assembly after my car was hit on the side. The dealer's body shop had to do alot of fiddling to get it right. It's probably the strike post on the car body that's out of allignment and yes it can be adjusted.
Re: Is the Door Strike Post Adjustable? (ProDesign)
I have been told that the latch and post seldom move. What is most common is the hinges sagging. Just leaning on an open door can do it. I have fixed several non vette cars by putting a jack under the door and putting very light pressure on the door. Keeps the weather strip properly aligned.
