Default Read Outside Temp W/o Automatic Hvac?

I have the manual Air Condioning system. Is it possible to read the outside / external temp through the DIC without having the automatic HVAC?
Would like to know what the external temperature is while driving, especially when it gets up to 110 - 115 degrees here in AZ.

Can't believe FRC drivers have not asked this question before.

I have the automatic HVAC, all temps are read on the HVAC unit that is located under the radio and NOT on the DIC.

Two problems with reading the outside air temp through the DIC ....

1) cars with the manual system (RPO code C60) do not have the sensor installed to measure the outside temperature (part number 10248414).

2) Even if you could install the sensor, the IPC is not programmed to show outside air temp ..... on the cars with the automatic HVAC controller (RPO code CJ2) the outside temperature displays on the HVAC display.

BlackZ06 - Thanks for the response. I was not real sure where I read you could get the outside temp even w/o the HVAC type system. It must have been on the Porsche Forum.

Thanks again

Well those Porsche guys always seem to be confused by their DIC's .... their's are very small, and they never seem to know how to use them ......

Corvette guys have big DIC's and we know what they are for ....

You can't retrofit the HVAC external temp sensor capability into a non-dualzone system, but you can install one of these rearview mirrors with external temp sensor:

http://www.autoanything.com/mirrors/...0A2605116.aspx

I believe many have installed these with success.

Thanks - I'll check it out and look at other alternatives for reading the external temp.

Looks like they supply GM with mirrors, it looks like it is the exact same thing minus the little area for the Temp and Compass.
