Syncro Max IS the recommended one for pre 01 (paper faced blocker rings) My 2000 was very "balky" getting back into 1st after kicking into neutral sitting at lights.(don't like riding the throw out bearing that long) Put syncro max drove it a while,,,Problem GONE!!! quicker/smoother shifting!!!

Going to give it a try
For those looking to save some money and support a forum vendor check out corvetteguys.com.
$9.99 a quart, no tax (at least in Texas) and free shipping.
Now I just hope to see even half of the improvement others have.

And for those looking to save time, and not spend too much $$$, you can get it for 9.79 a quart at oreilly in Texas (or at least in Houston).
You'll have to pay tax, but you can get 4 quarts today for $2.45 more total.
I just changed mine this afternoon to RP Synchromax from RP Max ATF.
I have a 97, with (I guess) paper blocker rings. The max atf was fine for a year, but I thought I'd give this a try.
Car still in the air for swaybar (C6Z51) and spring (C5Z51) change.
I'll test it out later this weekend when I go get an alignment and then I'll report back.
Hopefully my trans won't eat itself
On another note, mine took just over 3 quarts, so you could probably do 3 cars with 10 quarts if you get a few people together. Maybe even 4 cars with 13 quarts. You could probably also put in 3 quarts and be fine. I let mine drain for 30 minutes, and it started running out of the fill hole on about the 3rd pump from the 4th quart.

Just out of curiousity, what fluid did you have in previously? I changed my '01s tranny fluid to Red Line's ATF several years ago, and I've been OK. However, if something is indeed BETTER, I'm up for a change. BUT, if all I'm going to accomplish by changing to PR Synchomax is lighten my wallet, I'd rather not....
Thanks for any input!

Good for all!! Just stated it that way as it is safe for the older ones!!The newer ones have carbon fiber blockers(if I recall correctly) that are much more durable and are safe with most any fluid. My tranny had about 55k and the fluid was really FUNKY when it came out. I now have RP in tranny and rear with several thousand miles and all is well ,,and theis includes three trips to the strip for test and tune night about 16 passes and also includes 13 dyno pulls as well. I'm a satisfied customer of Royal Purple products!!

After reading sll the positive posts on RP syncomax and since my 03 z/06 tranny was starting to make a noise (bearing I suspect) I decided to try it and since there so many positive posts I wasn't going to add that is until I tried it ,I am so totally F#*%*#* amazed it never shifted this smooth and I've owned since new now has 60'000 milkes and the bearing noise is 99% gone' I hoped to make it to winter to lay up car for tranny fix.I understand there is RP for differental as it is positraction is there any additive needed or do you just put it in straight and what is the exact name for the correct differental lube

I've got a couple of quarts of the RP MaxGear comming for the diff. This stuff says it's ready for the limited slip clutches without an additive. What do you think?
