40 is a very high estimate.

Be very happy with 30

If you go to the work of changing the heads, do the cam at the same time. It's a little more work and about an additional $400 for the cam of your choice, a few gaskets, and a new balancer bolt. Either that or wait on the heads and do them both at once.

I hate to see you have to go down that road twice, unless you just enjoy it...

Also, be cautions with 1.8 rockers and milled heads....you might consider staying with 1.7's and just get the cam with the specs you want. (Be sure that your springs will handle it and you have enough PTV clearance)

Oh yea I didnt think about the clearance issue with the 1.8 rockers and milled heads

No, I honestly don't think you'd have an issue with that low of a lift, but I'd save the money on rockers, and put it into a cam that gives you what you're looking for, since you're going to be in there. If you buy a cam later, you'll probably want to go back to 1.7's.

My 2 cents. You obviously have to spend your money according to your desires, but I think you'll be happier if you do it all at once.
