Default Harmonic balancer

A couple days ago i had my car running, while looking under the hood i noticed my harmonic balancer wobbling. Now i'm tring to figure out the best way to change it, I took a close look at it last night and saw that it might not be as easy as a direct swap out. Do anybody have any advise on changing one? Thanks!

How bad is it wobbling? It may be fine, even brand new factory C5 balancers wobble some.

As for changing one, look up a Cam swap FAQ and it will have the info needed to swap one out.

Its noticeable, I have a cusin with same year and his has almost no shake. If I make a quater mile pass the belt wont come off but it will jump over one grove.

Here is my experience with this
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1872301

You can't beat the summit under drive balancer for price

I do regret not doing a cam while I was in there, live and learn though.

It's not too difficult if you have tools. Just time consuming. Have to remove the steering rack and sway bar to get to it. Your profile isn't complete. You should fill it out and let us at least know where you are because if you're close to someone like me, we might just come over and give you a hand!!

Thanks for all the response, I just found out today that the sway bar and steering rack got to come off. I have the car in the air now, I took the two bolts from each end of the steering rack, still tring to figure out whats next. You're right I do need to finish my profile, kind of new at this, I'll try to work on getting that finish tonight. Thanks again!

I would take it in, and you need to ask the shop to pin it while they are changing it and they need to look at the crank seal, because if it moves around too much you will damage the front crane seal and then the oil leaks will start, I know because this all happen to me.

Plus if they change the crane seal they need to do the timing cover gasket and water pump gasket, gaskets are cheap once you’re that far.

I noticed the rubber is starting to stick out the front of my dampner about an 1/8" for about two inches. I found it while I was changing the water pump. I hope it lasts for the summer 'cause I plan to drive it not work on it. We're going to do the Dragon Tail in Sept so I'd better keep an eye on it. What's the best replacement, GM?

PM'd you
also, Any SFI approved balancer should be plenty good. Search the C5 and C6 parts section for a balancer.
Here's one on sale from a supporting vendor
