So I've got a car coming into my shop tommorrow that we're trying to fit c6 z51 rotors to. I've seen tons of threads involving this swap but most everyone is running aftermarket 18"+ wheels. Does anyone know for sure, as in first hand experience, that they'll fit behind the thinspoke y2k 17" wheels? There are a couple threads saying it'll fit behind the 17" c5 zo6 but no one with pictures and definitive proof they'll bolt behind a thinspoke. I've got both the c6z51 stuff and regular c5 stuff in stock and I can test fit tommorrow but I was hoping for an answer before I went blindly in. I just assumed that since a cts-v brembo would fit behind a wagon wheel on a 13" rotor that these smaller calipers would work. Guess I shouldn't assume, huh?

I have C6 Z51 package and was told repeatedly that a 17" stock wheel would not fit on the front of the car after the swap however I have not ever actually tried it. Let me know if you get a 17" to fit?
they do fit, I tried it when I was down in FL working with EG, never street tested the car though, maybe an 1/8" clearance, deflection on wheel bearing???????????????

not gonna do it
No. They do not fit the standard thin spoke y2k wheels. Tried test fitting things without the pads and it fit fine. Once pads were in and everything tightened down but the wheel, the tech plopped the wheel up in place and the outer corner of the caliper rubs just BARELY on the barrel of the wheel. If one were to shave just a HAIR off the top face on the outside of the caliper I think it'd work. Although it wasn't my car and it would've totally defeated the purpose of putting those shiny red powder coated calipers on.
Now that I think about, GM had used slip on spacers on older trans ams/camaros and one of those 1/8" slip ones might even provide the clearance required, it's hard to say. Wish I had thought of that sooner...
I will say though, the red calipers and drilled/slotted AC Delco rotors look great on his car.
Also popped on a c6 Z06 shifter and aside from the stock boot not completely covering the stick that seems to have gone in with no problems either. I didn't drive the car, but hopefully the owner likes the mods.
Just hope the wife doesn't notice the bright reds.
I tried to bolt a 17in C5 Z06 front wheel onto the front of a C6 with Z51 and the wheel rubbed the caliper. Just barely but enough where I wouldn't do it.
