Great forum! Bought an 04 coupe in January, 5,120 miles, 6 speed, stock. Love the car. Hate the fact that it sometimes will crank run a few seconds and then dies, as if out of gas. Suspected a column lock issue. Bought a CLB from Thunder Racing. Opened up dash following the instructions but didn't find the purple, orange, green & black wiring harness. Nor did I see any evidence of a factory recall service. Spoke with the seller and he said he didn't have anything done and it never happended to him. A few weeks later when the car wouldn't even turn over bought a new red top optima. Problem didn't recur, then battery dead one day, read the voltage, about 6 volts. Pulled red top which was replaced for free with another red top. Last weekend drove the car and out of gas symtom again. When it happens I keep trying it until so far it eventually cranks and stays running. New red top has maintained correct voltage for a about 2 weeks now. The car was purchased new in July 04 by the guy I bought it from. Suggestions? Thanks again for a great forum.
Hi, It sounds possible that you do not drive the car very often like almost every day. If you are letting the car sit in between drivings for more than a few days without a Battery Maintainer hooked to it the battery is loosing it's charge in between drivings. A discharged battery can cause the symptoms you are describing. Get a good Battery Maintainer,(if you are using the Optima you need a maintainer that will work with the Optima, some won't keep it charged), And use it any time you are not driving the car for a day or more. This is common practice among owners that don't drive their cars regularly. The vette eats batteries that are not Maintained at full charge. There are many threads on this subject. Do a search for battery maintainer, or optima, or ac delco, or battery tender, or battery minder, and you will get all the info you need. Below is a link to a recent thread http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1999447
Good Luck

You should write down any codes, and then delete them ALL .... then drive the car and if the symptom recurs, check again and see if there are any codes set.
Post any new codes .... if the symptom doesn't generate a code, post that information .... it helps in diagnosing these kinds of issues.
