Default Trying to install mp3 this weekend

I plan on using a 3pdt switch to toggle between my factory cd player in trunk and output of my mp3 player. I looked in footwell for cable going to cd player but no luck finding it. Anyone have pictures or other help in locating it? Thanks in advance.
Ray

PS: this is posted in Audio but no action there

No pics, but stuck a couple relays in mine a couple years ago.

The cable should run right through the bottom of the passenger side footwell, right at the bottom. I think if you search the forum you'll find some other pics. There's a connector in line right there in the footwell, if you unplug it and the CD changer dies you know you've got the right one.

3pdt does not sound like enough to me -- you have 2 hots and 2 grounds, that means 4pdt -- are you going to use one common pole for both grounds? FWIW, I used two 2pdt relays, with a switch to control the relays mounted in the center console.

Here's the schematic I used: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/phot...aux_in_mod.jpg

You will need to keep a CD in the changer. If you try it without a CD, it will keep switching back to the radio.

Good luck!

Default thanks, yes that is what I plan

my mp3 player needs 3 wires, right, left, and common ground. Still looking for cable, is it below the fuse panel or silver box?

I did some searching for you. There was a lot on this 2-3 years ago -- so you need to use Advanced Search and search archive threads, not just current stuff. Many of these threads have pics of the location:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1857355

Here's some nice instructions on pulling your dash apart far enough to get to the radio:

UPDATE: Here's another nice how-to on pulling the dash apart: http://myweb.cableone.net/kd5fx/HSwitch/HSwitch.htm

Just a thought, maybe you'd like to get an iPod cable rather than just a mini-jack, this will charge your iPod:

Main Site (scroll about 1/2-way down the page to "IPOD-RCA CABLE ADAPTER N-IPOD-RCA-Plus $24.95"):

No doubt. But your Vette uses 4 wires, not 3. You want to twist the 2 grounds together? Go ahead -- might work, but it might sound bad, or might not work at all..... If it works, let us all know. If it doesn't work, or sounds really bad or quiet, well, you've been warned.......

As I recall, it's below the silver box. Check the threads I posted for pics. Check just under the carpet too.

Here's one with some great pics of the plug location:

I guess it's actually under the fusebox, disregard what I said about the silver box. My relays ended up getting installed under the silver box.

Default thanks again PeeBee

Looks like I should be good for a 3 wire try. I planned on not cutting and switching the CD ground wire. I am using that same wire diagram.

Default completed the install

and all went well. Clear audio with as much volume as CD. You do have to keep a cd in the chainger or the Head Unit will revert back to radio. If I want cd's its just a flip of the toggle switch. No pics just a plug connector, for the mp3 input and switch installed inside the center arm rest. PM if you have questions.
