Default Power Seat Problem

2001 with full power sport seats. The passenger seat side bolster and lumbar adjustments are broken. When I move the buttons (three in total) on the switches, the motor runs but nothing moves. How do I fix this? Thanks.

The connection point at each air bladder is known to break.......but if none of the three bladders inflate, I would suspect the connection at the pump outlet

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like you have experience here. I am a complete novice on the seats. Is there a diagram or instructions on what I should be looking for? Mucho Gracias!

There are airlines running from the distribution valves to the seat back. If none of the lumbar supports are working or side bolsters, then look at the valves. The upper and lower lumbar supports are seperate but the two side bolsters are one system. The seat bladder appears to be terribly expensive, like $580 plus or minus and depending on the seat type.

If you have a bladder problem do a search, there is a repair technique on the Forum somewhere.

edit: I believe the repairs are for pump diaphragms only. Sorry.

Default Problems too

I also have problems with my side bolsters too . My two lumbar supports work and hold their air, but the side bolsters will fill up, but then deflate. I'm guessing that there is only one pump per seat, and it's working so the pump diaphragm fix isn't for me.
Is there an easy fix for the side bolster connection or should I look to replace the whole bladder unit ?

That is what's happened to mine as well. The driver's seat side bolsters are inflating then loosing it, yet the lumbars are fine. The line going from the valve to the bolsters is a hard plastic line and I'm not sure how to remove it without cutting it. I need to get it off the valve in order to test whether its the bladder itself or the valve. Anyone know if heating up the hard plastic line will allow it to come off?

Thanks guys. Understanding that BOTH the lumbars AND the bolsters don't work but the motor runs, would this isolate a common part? Do they both run off the same motor? Where are the valves for all this? Under the seat? Thanks.

Yes, one motor, several valves to send the air. Your issue is right there under the seat where its fairly easy to get too.

Could be the vacuum line has come loose or broken off the air pump. The pump is in a pouch tie wrapped on the front cross brace of the seat track. The plastic fitting is prone to getting broken off the pump if something is jammed under the seat front. Look for a loose hose at next to the pouch.

Here is a link to a post showing a picture of the pump pulled out of its pouch.

This is all helpful now that I know where to look. I located the vinyl bag with the pump motor inside... Nothing seems loose or to have fallen off. However, I noticed that the motor sounds like it's really struggling when it runs. It almost sounds like if it was battery operated, the batteries were run down. The other side hums along nicely.... Is the motor spent or is there something that may cause this? Thanks.

Maybe the line is kinked and causing the pump to strain??? That could sound like its worn out? (low battery like)

The pump went bad on my drivers side 03. I replace it with a cheap ford pump from eBay. $20 instead of $400 from Chevrolet. It is easy to take the seat out and do the repair work. Good luck

You could swap the pass side bladders/pumps over to drivers side if your not concerned about pass having functional bladders.
