3:15 gears

Just looking to get some input, I am planning on eventually building a stroker motor for my 01 6spd coupe. Would a 3:15 be too tall of a rear gear, I have a rearend out of a 98 auto car and I was thinking it would help with not over powering 1st gear and also help keep the fuel mileage up. Has anyone done anything similar?

Most owners go with shorter gears in their 6 speeds. I would post this over in FI and see what you get. I think you would lose performance by going to a taller gear than the 3:42's.

The 6 speed manual comes with 3.42. If anything you need to go lower with would be numerally higher (3.73, 4.10). I think the 3.73 would be a great all around gearing (street and strip) and you would not loose much gas milage.

After reading your post i guess you want to go higher to improve gas mileage and you would have plenty of power with a stroker. I personally would leave it alone.

Let's forget about 1/4 mile racing and just comment on road racing with 315 gears

what you think it would do for a looong road track 150 mph runs, etc?
