Default Transmission cooler

I'm currently in the process of swapping my heads/cam etc. and as a result my car is pretty much torn apart. After I complete this I'll be moving on to the rearend(Z06 3.42) and converter (Yank SS3600). I figure now would be a good time to throw the tranny cooler in. What do you recommend, what is the best out there?

Thanks!

look into the B&M line of coolers. I've got a 24K btu unit ( see sig for mods)and it works great in South Carolina - one of the best mods I made.

BIG is better---I'd go with the biggest one you can fit--ususlly about an 8x11 size--But don't go with a cheapie---B&M or equivalent--I am using a Long which is a race cooler line--My temps are never over 180* around town and about 170 on the freeway--w/ a 2800 stall
PS I tried it both ways---and it runs cooler to bypass the stock radiator trans cooler--There are many opinions on this but I wouldn't do it any other way--

No such thing, I think you have a 24k GVW cooler. It is like 14k btu.

Since the person is going with a big stall converter the smaller cooler may not be enough. I'd look at the racing ones, the b&m 130-70266 or 130-70274 , either will be a tight fit in front of the AC condensor but can be done.

What ever you get, only get a plate type cooler, a tube and fin design will never be enough.

Good luck,
Matt

Thanks for the info. I'll probably go with the B&M 130-70266 based on this. Anybody gone bigger than this?

One thing to keep in mind ... do you drive the car in freezing temperatures (or even just cold temps) ..... which I'm gonna guess you get once in a while up there in St. Paul ???

you should consider that you don't want the fluid too cold ...

just a thought I wanted to throw out there .....

Nope, the car is a fair weather friend only.
