I missed a shift a day ago and the car reved really high instantly; now the car is leaking a few drops of gear oil. I took the 01 Z06 out to drive it and parked, there were two more drops; drove the car home, parked, and there were 5 drops after about 10 minutes. I pulled the car into the garage, then there was another 4 drops. Could this be a rear differential leak or is the case venting itself from the built up pressure? OR is it something else? Thanks y'all!

I don't think your missed shift is related, sounds to me like the famous
rear diff leak.
What side of the car do the drops come from?
You do not live far from me, bring it by and I can crawl under and look also
may be able to fix if it is the side cover.

Sorry for the hijack,but...I just discovered that the side cover on my diff/drivers side is leaking a little after a track day. Can it be fixed on the car, does the shaft have to be pulled? Thanks...Greg

Yes it can be fixed on the car but the axle has to be pulled, its only a 30-40 min job to pull a axle, once you have done it you can do it again in 15 mins.
Thanks to all! It doesn't look like all of my rebate check will be going into our Vette; which wouldn't be a bad thing if it were adding, let say a head and cam package!
