I'm a little confused by your confusion, LUK is the manufacturer for the OEM clutches on Corvettes. GM doesn't make those parts, they source them from various vendors.

You guys think its a good idea to put the ls7 clutch in my c5 ls1 if i got about 450 hp at the crank? What are the driving characteristics of it, and does it last long compared to an aftermarket clutch? any info would be apreciated

You'll be fine. The LS7 clutch doesn't liked to be slipped so be carful at the track. I've had LS7 clutches in two of my 554rwhp+ Vettes and no problems what so ever. For the money, it's a good clutch that should last. My two Vette's were both N2O cars btw.

Well thats good news! So where would i get this clutch from, and what all would i need to do the swap? Would i need a new flywheel and would i have to send it in to be balanced? My brother also works at a chevy dealer so do u think i should get it from them? Its pretty expensive there tho lol.

Nobodys confused, I thought it was interesting that gm used luk clutches. I didnt know that until I looked at the parts
when we opened up the boxes. Lots of clutches to choose from out there. Mine is a daily driver so I think this clutch will do fine. I only have 432rwhp compared to some of the stronger vettes out there.

This is to rockgoped - I have noticed at byunspeed they have a lot of options i could get with the ls7 clutch. Which ones should i get? I prolly want the arp pressure plate and flywheel bolts, and im gonna get a new slave, but do i need the ls2 crakshaft pilot bearing or the ls1 pilot bearing? And thanks a bunch for the forum u gave me, it seemed to help a lot.
thanks, cory

no problem cory. I called in and the owner said that arp bolts are a waist of money for the 500hp range. Unless your talking serious power to just go with the gm bolts. Thats what i did. this is my order.

I got my slave off the bay. its a lot cheaper and shipping time wasnt too bad. also invest in the remote bleeder for the slave so in the future you can flush the complete system without having to get under the car! great little additive. You should make sure your clutch fluid is clean and clear, not black which leads to slave cylinder falure, its what happened to mine. You can get the remote bleeder from lapd.
heres the direct link and their on sale right now!

http://www.thelapd.com/index.php?mai...roducts_id=194

i was also told that unless im gona spin the clutch at 8000 rpm it doesnt need to be balanced. I didnt have mine done based on that and dont have any problems. no new vibrations or anything! actually, my car feels tighter and more solid than ever before, feel back in love all over again!
