Chevy PR, HP & Torque Plots
Hi,
I plotted this data from Chevy's PR releases about the '01 & '02 Z06's. It not only shows the top end power of the LS6's but the increased low end torque of the late LS1's. I computer simulated the LS1's and it showed about 0.1 sec and 1 mph increase for the '02's over the '00's. But, I would think that the SOTP increase would be much more significant in daily street driving. Anybody owned both of these years?

Bigger ports, camshafts, etc leads to a lower off idle torque. These are a necessity for good top end power.
You can build a pickup truck to have great off idle torque, but very poor performance past 4000 rpm...

Interesting how the current LS1 has more low rpm torque than the LS6.
