Default AC Doors Inoperable

I just replacde a failed oil pressure sender, using instructions from this forum. It was a little intimidating taking everything apart but went back together quite easily.

The oil pressure gauge works again! (And the engine started with no problem). But the AC vent controls are now inoperable. The vents are stuck in a half foot, half dash mode. (Temperature control is normal).

The instructions I used warned about this potential, indicating that a small vacuum connection at the back of left side of the intake manifold needed to be reconnected because it powers the AC vents.

I checked - that hose is connected firmly - but still no vent control.

I also noticed a threaded cap near that connection on the same line. It was loose when I checked it. I tightened it by hand - still no vent control.

Questions:

1. Is there anything else I might have forgot to reconnect that is causing my vents to not be controllable?

2. Is there a simple way to test for vacuum at this connection?

3. Is there anything else I could do to diagnose or solve this problem?

Here's a pretty detailed writeup on tracing down the vacuum lines for the A/C controls. You can use a vacuum gauge, but your finger is good enough. Just cover the end of the line at any junction with the engine running and you'll feel whether or not there is any vacuum.

Also pull the codes on the DIC. If you have B0441 or B0361 (362 too I think), try this:

Still inoperable - and is driving me crazy!! BTW I forgot to mention - this is a 99 6M vert.

No codes. AC doors still inoperable. Strong vacuum at the intake manifold and just prior to what looks like some sort of valve. None past the valve - whether I leave it plugged in or unplugged.

To check for a bad valve, I bypassed it with 1/4" tubing, connecting the nipple on the manifold to the metal pipe at the firewall. Strong vacuum all the way - still all doors inoperable.

I checked all fuses - all OK. The HVAC module appears to be working normally - i.e. all lights are on, everything cycles as normal on the screen.

The temperature control and fan speed adjustment work normally.

Everything worked normally before I replaced the oil sender.

Any help would be appreciated.

I found one a while back and the vac. leak was actually in the passenger side floor board. There is a little place where the vac. comes in the car and a small connector in the floorboard. If I get a chance I will get some pics if you cant locate it.

What valve are you speaking of? And what metal pipe at the firewall are you talking about.? The vacuum for the AC control is supplied via a plastic tube connected to a rubber elbow, and connects at the back of the intake manifold below the MAP sensor.
